VintageTrams

Blackpool Transport will be operating a vintage tram service between Starr Gate and North Pier in addition to their normal advertised tram service. Trams will operate about every 10 minutes. At the time of writing the following cars are expected to see use.

The tram service is subject to availability and Blackpool Transport's conditions of carriage. Normal tram fares apply, including Travelcards. Day tickets can be bought on trams and buses for £5.95 (£5.45 for children). More details on Blackpool Transport's website.

Vambac Coronation 304 of 1952. 304 ran until 1970 and has been preserved since 1975. Owned by the Lancastrian Transport Trust its restoration was completed in 2002 as part of Channel 4's Salvage Squad.
Sheffield 513 was new in 1950 by Roberts of Wakefield - who also built 304. It ran until the last day of the Sheffield system in 1960 when it was bought for preservation. It moved to Beamish Museum in 1976 and was restored by 1983. It visited Blackpool in 1984/5 and returned again for a long term loan in 2001. It has been used sporadically in recently years - mainly on hires - and this is believed to be its first service use since 2005.
Standard 147 ran from 1924 to 1966, operating for much of its life on the Marton route as well as the long lived Promenade line. In 1967 it was exported to America to the Trolleyville Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. It was rarely used due to its height and was repatriated in 2000. Blackpool Transport restored the car and it returned to use in 2002.
Car 619 is a replica of a 1910 Fleetwood Tramroad 'Vanguard' car built by Bolton Trams in 1987 on a former One Man Car underframe. It was taken out of use in 2004 but was returned to service in 2008. It has been earmarked for preservation at Heaton Park Tramway in exchange for the visit of their Manchester car 765 in 2010. This may therefore be its only appearance at totally Transport
The fifth car is expected to be one of the classic open boat cars - weather permitting. 12 of these were built in 1934 and five remain in Blackpool today with two in the active fleet. The cars are largely in original condition as they see limited use each year.
Bolton Corporation 66 dates from 1901 and has operated in Blackpool since 1981. It is owned and was restored by the Bolton 66 Tramcar Trust.
